Through a public-private partnership, the construction of a community-wide OC-48 optical Ethernet fiber ring serves residential, commercial, and industrial sectors of Battle Creek. The system provides any level of bandwidth required. In addition to high-speed Internet access, the ring provides redundancy, with no single point of failure along the route, extending from the central business district to Fort Custer Industrial Park, W.K. Kellogg Airport and the Aviation and e-Learning Smart Zone. Redundancy reduces operational costs from a Battle Creek location, with no need to connect with an additional back up service provider.
